Rishi Tea: Sweet Matcha!
Hooray! Im super excited to do this review because it was SO MUCH FUN!!! The generously sweet folks over at Rishi sent me a big ole present today! No, Im not being paid to write this, I do not recieve money or any other compensation other than free product. And boy did I get some! :D
Today I'll be gushing about Rishi Tea's Sweet Matcha Green Tea. I'll be honest. When I first decided to do this tea review blog, I had pretty much zip for tea knowledge. I had no idea green tea came in powder form, and you can pretty much do ANYTHING with it - even make tea biscuits!! So I did some homework and found an awesome recipe from Yummly which is an recipe site I stumbled upon a while back, and tried this delicious stuff out.
Here is all of what I got, from which I will be doing one review of each product here every day until I go through it all - that's how much they sent!!
See that kraft tubish container? CHOCK FULL OF TEA!
I can't wait to bust into these.
Jasmine Pearl
Thai Lime Fruit Tea
Mangosteen Fruit Tea
Alrighty that's just a few pictures. So I said I like to bake, remember? OK Well I did just that. I made the most scrumptious sweet matcha green tea biscuits!!! I paired it with a vanilla shake that I added a tablespoon of the sweet matcha to.
On to my review!!!!!
Composition
Sweet Matcha is pure Japanese green tea harvested from shade-grown bushes, traditionally stone-ground into a fine powder, and combined with milled cane sugar.
Dry Visual
Gorgeous light green powder
Dry Aroma
Delectable sweet fragrance, like fresh tea leaves and sunshine.
Flavor
In the tea cookies, it gave a slightly sweet kiss of green tea flavor with almost a caramel side. In the milkshake it blended perfectly with the vanilla, which turned it into a desserty, more heavy green tea flavor.
Liquor
Light creamy green
Brewing Time
No brewing this time!
Manufacturer
Rishi Tea
Caffeine
pretty sure...its tea.
Special Note
Not to brag but my cookies rawk, and so do my shakes. This is definitely a treat. Go get some.

Revolution Tea: Tropical Green Tea!
DISCLAIMER: This post is a review on a tea and tea company that have supplied me with free tea. I have not been paid or accepted anything other than free product. So don't be all blahblahblah. OK on to my review.
~~~~~~~~~
Wow. you guys aren't going to believe this. Today the UPS guy came
( and he was CUTE!) anyway, he had a package for me, and it was in a pretty good sized box. IF you're not familiar with the WONDERFUL tea company, Revolution Tea, you need to go sees them real quick like, because they are truly amazing. I giddily ran inside (mostly because I love love love packages and it was also like 90 degrees outside) and got a knife and sliced ever so gently as if performing surgery on my lovely box.
Here, I find a jungle of jumbo bubble wrap! :D I love bubble wrap. Especially jumbo. I also love the great care taken to protect my goodies! I moved it out of the way and WHOA. I was expecting a sample...all I did was ask them for a small sample of their most popular tea and I'd review it.They sent me two FULL SIZED 30 count boxes! HOORAY ITS CHRISTMAS!!!!! :D :D :D Talk about a tea lover's dream on a sunny boring afternoon.
How thoughtful, how generous, HOW I MUST BREAK INTO THESE AT ONCE! I declared, as my mother stared at me like I was a lunatic. I opened the plastic off of the first box: The Best of the Best. I had to have a cup of whatever sweet smelling blend I was breathing in. I found out quickly that the most fragrant one was the Tropical Green Tea blend.
So here's my review.
Composition
The healthy properties of Dragonwell green tea, blended with pineapple flavor and citrus peel, offer a delicate, invigorating taste.
Young Hyson and Dragonwell Teas, Orange Peel, Peppermint Leaf, Jasmine Flowers, Lemon Verbena, Marigold Flowers and Pineapple Flavor
Dry Visual
This tea is absolutely stunning in it's clear individually packed infuser. You can see the beauty of the green tea leaves mingled with the orange peel, and some other flower petals and, its just simply beautiful.
Dry Aroma
As I had mentioned before, this has a unique, sweet fragrance to it. The peppermint and pineapple flow so nicely together along with the marigold and deep green tea scent.
Flavor
The only way I can describe this tea, is it tastes like the end of a great summer. It reminds me of early september, when the last bits of summer fruit are ripe, the grass is cut for the very last time, the scent of rain hangs heavy in the air, and you're just trying to savor every single last bit of it. So full-bodied but not!
Smooth in texture, it has little to no bitterness or aftertaste. Once I run out of this, which is probably soon, I'll definitely put it in a shopping cart.
Liquor
Golden Yellow-green, as depicted by my photo.
Brewing Time
2-3 minutes
Manufacturer
Revolution Tea Company
Caffeine
Yes
Special Note
Thank you, Revolution Tea. This won't last very long in my country home.
Bigelow Pomegranate Black Tea
Okaydee Raidee! First review. Today I am reviewing Bigelow's Pomegranate black tea. They recently were gracious enough to send me a few samples of their teas. So here we go.
Composition
Black tea, natural apple and pomegranate flavors, soy lecithin, licorice root, hibiscus, rose hips, pomegranate oil, and citric acid.
Dry Visual
The teas are in tea bags so it was somewhat difficult to tell, yet very fine in texture.
Dry Aroma
This tea I found to be extremely "perfumey" not unlike that of a Dr Pepper. This mde me extremely happy as I knew it would be good and strong.
Flavor
Alright this tea was absolute magic. Im not one for fruity flavors...however this one seemed more candy like. I used two sugars, and I probably shouldnt have because it has it's own sweetness due to the pomegranate oil infusion.Mild astringency.
Liquor
Dark golden red hue
Brewing Time
Reccommended steep 1-2 minutes, I steeped for 4.
Manufacturer
Bigelow Tea Company www.bigelowtea.com
Caffeine
Being a black tea one has to assume caffeine is a factor, although it is not stated on the package that it contains said caffeine.
Special Note
Overall I really enjoyed this tea. I wouldn't recommend pairing it with sweets, though as it is a sweet in itself.
If you have tried this before and gotten a different experience or would like to share, follow follow follow! Have a great tea time!
Alrighty. Let's start with the basics. I do not drink from quintessential "teacups" because they are just too pretty to use. I have one...somewhere. I tend to use mugs because I have MANY of those and it's just easier. Plus Im a pig. lol. Maybe I'll do a review on teacups vs mugs one day. But just so no one hounds me for not using proper tea etiquette...I have warned you.
My first review will be posted tomorrow, and I will choose the tea tomorrow as well. Surprises!
Hope you are as excited as I am.
